May 21, 2009 There are some custom wad files I play on skulltag and I think the music is really good in them and I was wondering if I could play the music outside the game. Is there a way I can extract the music from a wad file to maybe a midi or an mp3?
github.com Saw that, I have no idea how to use it though.I saw recently that that the best modern way to play Doom is to download the Doomsday Engine. I did this for my Mac, but it doesn't come with the WAD Files, which are required to play the game.I did an online search and it seems that these aren't freely available, but I can't find a MAC Version of the game for purchase.
If I buy the Windows or Linux versions of Doom, will the WADs therein be compatible with the Doomsday Engine for Macintosh? If so, how can I extract just the WAD files from the installer, if any?
Unfortunately, the game never came out for Mac directly. But, the WAD files are compressed files with the game data. They are delivered with any version of the game and actually x-platform. Therefore, it does not matter if you buy the game for windows or not.You can either use the original Doom WAD or the one coming with the BFG Edition of Doom 3. Both will work with Doom Engine. Wad Extraction For Mac FreeIf you use the WAD from the BFG Edition, you need to tell Doom Engine that you are using Ultimate Doom though.
If you want to run your original Doom, you can use DosBOX, which is available for MAC, Windows and Linux.

I'm aware of the general procedure. You use ShowMiiWads on your NAND dump on the files for VC, for wad, and then U8 decompression and all.
I got a bunch of NES and MD roms (including the coveted English-translated Monster World 4) this way. However, the rom file you get with wads for SNES Wii VC doesn't work out of the gate in emulators. From what I hear, the ROM data and the SPC (sound) data were separate. But I'm really interested since many of the SNES ROMs are enhanced (the enhancement is in the rom proper too in many cases, like Super Mario RPG).
I heard someone at Assemblergamers managed to reassemble a working SNES rom off the extracted files this way for Super Mario RPG and found all the changes on the ROM itself. I'm very interested in finding out how to do it.Any help/info?.
